What’s inside these Cream Cheese Christmas Cookies that makes them so good?
Cream Cheese adds richness and depth of flavor to cookies. It also helps to create a moist and tender texture. It also provides a slight tang that balances out the sweetness of other ingredients, like chocolate or fruit.
Unsalted Butter adds moisture and fat to the dough, which helps to create a soft, tender cookie. In addition, butter is responsible for the rich flavor and beautiful golden color of cookies.
Brown Sugar has molasses, which not only gives it its characteristic brown color but also a deep caramel flavor. This molasses also makes brown sugar stickier than granulated sugar, so it helps bind the ingredients together better.
Vanilla extract enhances the flavor of other ingredients in cookies. This is because vanilla has a complex flavor profile that includes notes of floral, spicy, and woody. When added to cookies, vanilla extract helps to round out the flavors of the other ingredients.
Almond Extract imparts a rich, nutty flavor that enhances the flavor of other ingredients. Plus, this is my secret ingredient to add flavor and sweetness! I find sugar cookies without almond extract to be very bland.
