Ingredients

Let's gather the ingredients!

  • 4 large apples Rome beauty, Golden delicious, or Jonagold
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon ground
  • ¼ cup raisins chopped
  • cup walnuts chopped
  • cup almonds chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter or coconut oil

Instructions

Let's Begin!

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Cut out an inch from the top of the apple, then cut out the cores for stuffing, leaving the bottom ½ inch of the apples intact. Keep the tops for later.
  • In a small bowl, combine the sugar, salt, cinnamon, raisins, walnuts, and almond. Stuff the apples with the mixture, then top with a dot of butter. Place the tops back on the apples.
  • Place the apples in a baking dish with a cup of boiling water on the bottom. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the apples are cooked through and tender, but not overcooked and mushy.
  • When done, remove the apples from the oven and baste them with the juices from the pan.
  • If preferred, serve with vanilla ice cream on top. Enjoy with family and friends!
