Pear Pie with Cheddar Cheese

Cheddar Pear Pie is one of my all-time favorite pies! The combination of cheddar cheese and pears is amazing. This pie is perfect for the fall season and on Thanksgiving or any other special occasion. If you've never tried it before, you're in for a treat!

Ingredients
  

Crumble Mixture:

  • 4 oz. all-purpose flour
  • 3-4 oz. brown sugar see notes for a vegan substitute
  • 4 oz. cheddar cheese grated
  • 2 oz. butter

Pie Mixture:

  • 7 cups pears peeled and sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice fresh
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon ground
  • 1 pie crust or shell unbaked

Instructions
 

Pear pie: A perfect dessert treat!

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, toss to combine the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, butter, and cheddar cheese until crumbs.
  • Combine the sliced pears, and cornstarch, and sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice, in a separate bowl.
  • In a baking dish, place the uncooked pie shell, pour the pears mixture then top with the crumble mixture.
  • Bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Let the pie cool for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Vegan Substitution
  • Cheddar cheese & Butter: You can use home or store-bought; if using a store-bought make sure they are dairy-free, or non-dairy.
  • Brown sugar: I highly suggest using raw sugar, as they are a natural sweetener.
  • Pie shell/crust: You can make homemade or store-bought that are vegan or organic
