Ingredients

Let's gather the ingredients!

  • 1 package puff pastry sheets 2 sheets
  • 8 ounce cream cheese softened
  • 1 tsp lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • ½ tsp lemon zest freshly grated
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup blueberry fresh or frozen, options: strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, etc.
  • ½ cup blueberry preserves or other fruit preserves
  • 1 egg plus 1 tbsp water, for egg wash

Instructions

Let's Begin!

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper, then set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add sugar, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla. Beat until well combined, then set aside.
  • In a small bowl stir together blueberries and blueberry preserves, then set aside.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll each sheet of the thawed puff pastry into a 10-inch square. Cut each square into 4x4 inch squares.
  • Transfer squares to prepared baking sheets. Fold and pinch the corners to the middle, making an octagon shape. Using a fork, prick the center of each octagon, leaving a 1/2-inch unpricked border around all the edges.
  • In a small bowl, beat the egg and the water together with a fork. Brush dough with egg mixture.
  • Spread a well-rounded tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
  • Top each with 2 rounded teaspoons of the blueberry mixture, spreading evenly over the cream cheese mixture.
  • Bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to wire racks. Cool completely.
  • Serve and enjoy with family and friends!
