For the Cream Cheese frosting:

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

Let's Begin!

    Cream Cheese Cookies:

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Combine the softened butter and cream cheese using an electric mixer.
    • Add in 1 ½ cups of the brown sugar to the bowl, and beat until fluffy.
    • Then add the beaten egg and stir to combine, add the vanilla, and stir again.
    • In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • After mixing well, pour these ingredients into the bowl with the wet mixture, and combine.
    • Roll out the dough, and cut out desired shapes using a cookie cutter and place on baking sheet about 1-inch apart.
    • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. They are done when the top of each cookie is forming cracks.

    Cream Cheese Frosting:

    • Beat together the softened butter and cream cheese until light and fluffy.
    • Slowly add in the vanilla extract, lemon juice, and powdered sugar. Then beat until smooth.
    • If the frosting is too thick, add ½ teaspoon of water until you reach the desired consistency.

    Let's Assemble!

    • Make sure the cookies are completely cooled.
    • Top the cookies with the cream cheese frosting, making sure to leave a border in the sides for better presentation.
    • Sprinkle with powdered sugar and candy decorations. This is optional.
    • Serve and enjoy with family and friends!
