Irish Apple Cake

Why will you enjoy this recipe?

  • So many tart apples!
  • Top with a crunch!
  • Perfect for a nice cup of tea or coffee in the afternoon!
  • Can be covered and stored in an airtight container at cool room temperature.

What Apples Should You Use For Apple Cake?

This apple cake’s cake is light and moist, and it’s topped with thinly sliced granny smith apples. When I make this cake, I use granny smith apples since their somewhat sour flavor helps to balance out the richness of anything they’re added to. They also keep their shape and stay in slices, which makes for a great presentation.

How long is it going to last?

This cake can be kept at room temperature for several days or frozen for up to one month. Allow for complete defrosting before serving. You can alternatively reheat it in the microwave or in a 350°F oven for 15 minutes covered in foil.
