For anyone with a sweet tooth, pecan pie bars are the perfect treat. They are easy to make and can be enjoyed by bakers of all skill levels. Best of all, they are packed with the rich flavor of pecans. The key to making perfect pecan pie bars is to use fresh, quality ingredients. Be sure to use unsalted butter and pecans that are chopped into uniform pieces. The recipe also calls for light brown sugar, which helps to add a touch of sweetness without making the bars too sweet. Once the ingredients are assembled, the bars can be baked in a preheated oven until they are golden brown. Let them cool completely before cutting into them, and enjoy!

Pecan Pie Bars: Ingredient Tips

These delicious bars are easier to make than pie, and they’re just as tasty. Here are a few tips to help you get the perfect results:

Use fresh, plump pecans for the best flavor. Toast them briefly in the oven before using them. Toasting the pecans before adding them to the recipe will give the bars an even nuttier flavor. Simply spread the chopped nuts on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 5-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool before using as directed in the recipe.

To ensure that your bars have a firm texture, use dark corn syrup rather than light corn syrup.

For a truly decadent treat, stir in a handful of chocolate chips or chopped candied fruit along with the pecans

With these tips in mind, you’ll be sure to bake up a batch of pecan pie bars that everyone will love.

Instructions

Here's how to make the perfect pecan pie bars

  • Heat oven to 350°F.

  • I also oil spray it since this is a sticky bar.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, ⅓ cup sugar, and salt.

  • For best results, use a plastic knife to cut the bars.

Notes

Chop the pecans in a nut chopper or use a food processor.
Don't overbake them. When done, these pecan bars seem a little uncooked, but this is normal. They will set up and firm as they cool.
Let the bars cool completely before cutting, You might even refrigerate them overnight to ensure they are set.
Optional: garnish with caramel drizzle on top.
Use a ceramic or plastic knife to cut the bars to prevent sticking.
Use parchment paper to line the pan. Completely cool them, then cut them
You can make these ahead of time and freeze them, thaw them, and serve them.
