Apple Turnovers: Ingredients tips and substitution!

Puff pastry is a great way to make something look and taste luxurious without a lot of effort. Made with just a few simple ingredients. Below are tips and substitutions. Ready to collect the ingredients? Let’s go!

What you will need:
  1. Puff pastry: This recipe used a thawed store-bought puff pastry but if you want to make them at your home.
  2. Apples: The best apples used in this turnover are Granny smith apples as they hold enough into the dough. You may also use golden delicious, honey, crisp, or pink lady. I do not suggest using Macintosh as they were too mushy and also Red Delicious because they are unflavored.
  3. Egg Wash: It is used to seal the dough you can also use vegetable oil if you desired to omit the egg.
  4. Butter: As I am a vegan, I used unsalted butter, vegan butter, or any non-dairy butter.
  5. Sugar: You may also use raw or organic powdered sugar in this recipe.
  6. All-purpose flour: To make this gluten-free use certified gluten-free flour.
  7. Spices: In this recipe, use ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and kosher salt.
  8. Lemon juice: It adds flavor but you can omit this if preferred.
  9. For the glazed: All you need is sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Alternatively use, plant-based milk and raw sugar, if preferred.
