Fun Facts about Apple Cider

Did you know that apple cider is one of the oldest drinks in the world? The first recorded cider was made by the ancient Greeks, and it’s been a popular beverage ever since. Here are some fun facts about apple cider:

  • Apple cider is made from crushed apples, and the type of apple used can affect the flavor of the cider. For example, Granny Smith apples are usually used for tart ciders, while Golden Delicious apples are used for sweet ciders.
  • It is typically fermented, which gives it its slightly alcoholic content. However, there are also non-alcoholic ciders available.
  • They are often enjoyed during the fall months and are a popular ingredient in many fall recipes, such as pies, cobblers, and muffins.

So next time you’re in the mood for something different, reach for a bottle of apple cider and enjoy. And the best thing you can make with apple cider is these baked apple cider doughnuts.

Gather the ingredients and make a hole!

These doughnuts are easy to make and only require a few easy-to-find ingredients. The most important ingredient is, of course, apple cider. You can find this at most grocery stores, or you can make your own by following a simple recipe. Once you have the apple cider, the rest is easy. Below are the ingredients and how to make these apple cider doughnuts.

1. Apple Cider: This served as the base of these healthy doughnuts.

2. Eggs: I suggest using them at room temperature as they will cream nicely with cream butter and apple butter.

3. Spices: I used apple spice, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg for fall flavors.

4. Milk: Don’t be afraid to use your favorite milk in this recipe.

5. Vanilla extract: To add more depth of flavor.

6. Kosher salt and sugar: Use to balance the tastes, adjust to taste if needed.

7. Cream butter & apple butter: It’s either homemade or store-bought or omit apple butter if you don’t have it.

8. Flour, baking powder, and baking soda: I highly recommend using measuring cups to have a fluffy dough or batter.

Here’s a quick overview to make batches of healthy doughnuts

1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and spray the donut pan.

2. Make the batter and set them into a donut pan.

3. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

4. Meanwhile, prepare the toppings.

5. Dunk and enjoy!

When made with fresh apple cider, these doughnuts have a subtle nuttiness and depth of flavor that you just can’t get from any other kind of doughnut.

Recipe Tips

Apple doughnuts are a fall tradition in many households. They are often baked fresh and served warm, making them a comforting treat on a cold day. While baked apple doughnuts are simple to make, they can be easily overcooked. Here are some tips for making perfect baked apple doughnuts:

  • Start with good-quality applesauce. Homemade applesauce is best, but store-bought will also work. Avoid using canned applesauce, as it is usually too sweet and will result in doughnuts that are too soft.
  • Add spices to the applesauce to give the doughnut flavor. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice are all good choices.
  • Be careful not to overmix the batter. Overmixing will result in tough doughnuts.
  • Use a light hand when shaping the doughnuts. After they are baked, they should be light and fluffy, not dense and heavy.

With these tips, you’ll be sure to bake perfect baked apple doughnuts every time. And if you haven’t had one before, trust us when we say that you’re missing out! So what are you waiting for? Get baking (or buy them from your local bakery) and enjoy all the amazing flavors of fall!
